[2006-07-26 13:32] What happened ?

During my holiday (in mountains where is not so hot a where is not internet connection) broken down my notebook (exactly on July 11th), where was backup of Little Golem database. On this notebook was always one week old backup of database. Immediatelly after holiday I bought new notebook (on July 17th) and next day (on July 18th) I create backup of database on server, where is Little Golem. Because backup file is large (more or less 2gb) I always downloaded backup file during night. But on noon broken down server and I was without any backup file.

It was really bad luck. During 7 days broken down two computers where are data and on both computers is broken down only hard drive.


[2006-03-10 21:09] Two new games.
I was really suprised when unknow player wrote into LG forum short message about Connect6. It was absolutely new pure abstract paper and pencil game similar to Gomoku. I am inquisitive what will be final result of this game - clear draw or clear advantage for one of player or it is really well balanced game (as claims author of game professor I-Chen Wu from Taiwan).
During November and December of last year I played several ten games of EinStein wurfelt nicht! (author of game: Prof. Dr. Ingo Althofer). This small game fascinated me with simple and clever rules. It is clever, fast (some games have only 13-14 moves) and small game played on board (5x5) with cube.

[2006-01-30 11:18] Game of Empathy
New game is added. Game of Empathy is game where empathy is more important than logical reasoning. Object of game is write 10 expressions which are in association with given expression. For succesful game you must use the same expressions as other players.

[2006-01-21 14:29] Lines Of Action (LOA)
New game is added. Lines of Actions is modern abstract board game. LOA has a several variants, but until now is implemented only basic game.

Many of us remember playing the game Dots-and-Boxes as children. This deceptively simple game, however, is more than just child's play. There is version with 6x6 dots (5x5 boxes).

1st TwixtPP championship will be start on 15th May.

[2003-04-25 23:40] 3rd chess championship started
2nd championship in chess was finished and result was very very close. Dave and Anatole (both from USA) won 6 games and had only two draws, but Dave had better Sonnenborn-Berger score. Whole tournament decide close game between Dave and Petr Trojek. Already from 27th move players had pawn endings. After next 26 moves game transformed to K+Q+P vs. K+Q ending.

[2003-04-02 16:12] new game - Twixt
Modern board game developed by Alex Randolph was very popular in 60s and 70s. Similar as in hex, is object connect oposite sides. Implementation on this website has diferent rules - until now you cannot remove your links - but you can cross your own links (paper and pencil version of game).
In Edit user properties you can choose from two boards.

[2003-03-27 10:45] New champions
In March finished two championships. Second Golems word championship won Scot from USA. Whole championship was decided in game with Tore Sandmark (winner of two monthly cups and player with best rating) Game #15603. Scot won by 2.5 points - closest game in first league. gwg.ch.2.1.1

Second Four in a Row championship won McStack from United Kingdom. He won all his games.

[2003-02-02 11:24] Reversi championship
2nd Reversi championship is finished. Result was very close and we have two winners: Lin Liu (previous champion) and Hjallti. Next championship will start on 6th February.

2nd championship in go started. Because between 1st championship and 2nd is there a lot of new players, I create for 2nd championship (only for 2nd !) special rule. All players with rating 1. dan (or higher) play directly in 1st league.
This is reason, that in first league is 13 players.

    You can play rating tournaments (for player with the same rating) on 19x19 too. Since 13th March is added forum for discussion between players.

    Right now start new turn-based server. Supported is go (9x9 and 13x13) and two kinds of tournaments - Monthly cup and Ratings tournament. I create this server because I was not satisfy with existed turn-based servers. I play mail (email and turn based servers too) from 1987 and I consider web-based servers as best possibility for turn based game. Good luck in your games !!
