LEGO washing in Swedish TV
  • Ingo Althofer at 2014-10-30

    Hello,

it is not exactly LG-related, but during the recent 18

months I have performed lots of experiments with

LEGO bricks in the washing machine, building

    random complexes.

Now, Swedish Culture TV has reported on this in their

Kobra magazine (English with Swedish subtitles).

LEGO washing happens between 18:55 and 25:22.

    Cheers, Ingo.

It is very healthy to be meditating in front of a turning washing machine, I do it too…

But I don't like you touching the lego blocks and putting them in your socks as it removes some randomness and is more like God's hand.

Have you thought about simulation, maybe you could run at 1000000 turns/minute?

Do you know about any result proving that as for Game of Life, lego provides universal Turning machines?

    Hi Carroll,

the narrowness in the socks helps to push the balance towards

larger complexes. (Observe: the washing does not only put

bricks together but also disassembles them.)

Some other people tried that. It seems that the

surprise rate is much smaller than in my analog setting.

In particular, the washing machine found ways to combine

LEGO bricks with East German bricks (PeBe and Formo). Look here:

As long as the analog procedure contains severe random elements, you

can not hope for such results.

    Ingo.
