there used to be options to change the layout for twixt, shogi, and hex.  However, when the new website forum came out, these options seemingly disappeared.  perhaps someone can fill out a bug report to try to get these options reinstated.

I have the international sytle shogi pieces and the improved hex and twixt boards on my account, because I had them set that way before the major redesign.

@erratic I genuinely was not trying to troll, just pointing out in a fun way the Twist board is not very attractive
