new game added at littlegolem: QYPS
  • Ray Garrison ★ at 2016-12-23

Richard added this game today.  I signed up to play, but have no idea how to play!  Rules aren’t posted and can’t find info on the web.  Is it related tow Wyps?  Anyone know anything about QYPS?

  • purgency at 2016-12-23

Couldnt find the game, until i just navigated there by changing the url directly.

  • mmKALLL at 2016-12-23

Interesting! I got in the first monthly cup, it seems. :)

  • Florian Jamain at 2016-12-24

+1, where are the rules of this plz ? :D

  • mmKALLL at 2016-12-24

Same as WYPS but connecting pieces must have the same colour?

  • Carroll at 2016-12-26

    Small QYPS tournament created

  • Carroll at 2016-12-26

    Correct link ?

  • Carroll at 2016-12-28

Thanks to Richard for the new game and the new rules at !

  • Rex Moore ★ at 2016-12-30

I can’t figure out how to move. Even if I have three stones down, with each one that touches sharing a color, it won’t let me send the move. For example, if you are able to see this, what is wrong here?

  • Rex Moore ★ at 2016-12-30

    Well, how about a picture:

  • The_Burglar at 2016-12-30

    rules seem to read,

when placing new stones (your colour [outside ring] up) they must all contain a common colour <not as you played 2 sharing grey and 2 purple>

also if the same colour exists in the opponents stones of the line extended then make them yours (turn them over [flip um])

  • Rex Moore ★ at 2016-12-30

That seems to be the answer. Thanks, Burglar.

  • The_Burglar at 2016-12-30

after a re read of rules,       (note most problems have x dimensions, best to read rules x times)

the placed stones (or stone) must have a common colour and be connected

if new lines are formed of common colour flip them

winner is who can connect all edges (e.g. join two corners will do)

  • Ray Garrison ★ at 2016-12-31

so connect like a “Y” or “Ypsilon” , thus the “yps” in wyps and qyps.  but what does the “q” stand for?  Any ideas?

  • ypercube at 2016-12-31

    Very interesting question Ray!

Perhaps Q stands for Quantum? We all the Quantum Chromodynamics theory.

  • ypercube at 2016-12-31

    (we all know ...)

  • The_Burglar at 2016-12-31

after looking at unusual q words ( my best guess is

quantivalencechemical valence; ability of atoms to hold other atoms in combination

  • Rex Moore ★ at 2016-12-31

I will say, however, that I have a hard time telling the colors apart.

from playing, not sure if it’s stated in rules

after making a chain of stones with a common colour continue expanding the chain with existing stones that contain the common colour

note:- you can only extended the chain from the last stone selected

  • Richard Malaschitz ★ at 2017-01-06

I add two new colour schemes.

  • The_Burglar at 2017-01-10

    yes good choice of schemes

  • William Fraser ★ at 2017-01-10

Oh, and I like the dots, too....

  • Richard Malaschitz ★ at 2017-01-11

I add a new schemes (with dots, without dots, new BW scheme).

  • The_Burglar at 2017-02-03

To make game more friendly allow continuation when you can not win with the current rules, change rules so that you score a point when you link all edges and if drawn when the board is full add another point, this would enable more chat

  • mmKALLL at 2017-02-03

Not sure if that would make the game better. And I’m even less sure whether it would add chatting; many players don’t really seem to be in the mood for discussing their games regardless of rules.

  • The_Burglar at 2017-02-11

I would suggest that the mobile smart phone while encouraging more chat has the opposite effect when playing games here because texting is a lot slower, is it possible to attach/link sound files in the message box to allow real chat (one way at a time like the moves)

  • The_Burglar at 2017-12-03

if you link a straight line flip them all to you colour

if not straight link then flip first hex-tile of opponent selected

p.s. must test want happens if I select my hex-tile first on a non straight link

  • mmKALLL at 2017-12-04

You can also select any of opponent tiles in the link after the move is ready for posting, should help.
