Reply to this topic Return to forumchess game #632991 (game in progress)
This is the only in progress game in the December 2006 Monthly Tournament.
Each player has only one King left, a situation which has lasted for about 100 [yes, 100] moves.
I would not be surprised they are trying to play as long as possible without getting a draw by repetition.
At say one move a day do you think they will end the game before 20 years ?
I suspect that even repition requires a claim, assuming it's implemented at all.
Repetition should indeed require a claim (at least according to chess rules…). But King against King shouldn't…
About witapje having no Dutch flag I can't agree with that…
I've selected my flag at least ten times in the past, but it kept disappearing; some hacker must have hijacked it
:))))))))))))
This game indeed end in a draw…but I noticed that the word “draw” did not appear after the last move, as it always does in my games when my opponent and I agree to a draw. This probably means one of two things, either there was a repetition that the system recognized (sorry, I don't want to try to figure it out!), or an administrator stepped in and declared the game a draw. anyone know?
Yes, according to the rules of chess, White could have claimed a draw in that position. (Whether this is what happened or not, I don't know.)
White could have claimed the position resulting after 185.Kh8, with the same player to move each time, would have now occurred three times.
The first was after White played 165.Kh8
The second was after White played 173.Kh8
(I didn't look to see if a previous repetition of position could also have been claimed. I only checked to see if a claim could have been made from the final position.)
