Winning Strategies

What different strategies do you have for winning and which one is you favorite?

One strategy is to wait until your opponet makes a misteak and then take advantage of it. I think I've one the most games with this strategy.

Another is sacrafice to win. In one of my games in the championship I was able to see an eight move winning line that involved two sacrifices. So far it's my favorite winning method.

    Any others?

Granted I am not all that great at this game the only one I usually use it just wait for my opponent to make a mistake by moving one of his pieces too far into my territory, which allows me to move past him and force a win on the opposite side.

Has anyone remarked that for games between champions, usually the first one to take loses, so I agree :

    - just wait for your opponent to make a mistake by taking.

    - do not cross the diagonals, otherwise in case you need, you won't be able to reach any corner (chess square rule)
