Game review

Just completed my first game, looks like a very enjoyable game, started off assuming you had to take pieces as in checkers, once I worked out that you could bypass your opponent without taking, the game became a lot easier.

I feel this is going to became a very popular game at Littlegolem.

is a good game, not great but good.

is a bit boring the first moves because the movements are slow but is more fun when the pieces starts to conflict with the “enemies” and one has to decide which pieces to bring, when to capture or when to pass.

is a nice game but is the opening that is annoying.

It is difficult to find an advantage of one move over another in the opening. Maybe if the board were 8x6, with the armies two rows closer to each other at the start, the game would be more interesting.

The opening probably only seems boring because the strategic concepts are not understood yet. Dots and boxes seems almost random in the opening for a beginner, but for experts this is when the game is decided. Having an 8x6 board would simply reduce the potential mobility of the pieces, although this may not necessarily be a bad thing.

I very much agree with David Scott on this.
