Reply to this topic Return to forumIn the following game, White has just played i2. Black is thinking of resigning.
Is there a way for Black to avoid defeat?
[game;id:959952;move:46;title:Black to play (and win?)]
[perhaps worth clarifying that the game has now finished on the server, so yper's question is “theoretical”]
That was rather obvious, wccanard - I'd never suspect Ypercube of asking for the solution to an ongoing game! :-)
There's no short way to black win :P
I1 or H1, A15, H7 :P To make game longer but not sure about end result :P
I nead a program to check it offline :P Can I get it somewhere??
here are coordinates:
(A15 does not exist here …)
But: black wins in the game, so you should ask: did white make a mistake?
You are right ab (and Marius).
Black did win the game, after playing the obvious h1 defense first.
So, a better question is. Where did White make the mistake and how could he have won?
50.A6 by White was a complete waste of time.
Without looking at it too long or too deeply, after 49.B5 by Black, my first reaction is for White to play something like 50.D5. This threatens a ring by playing at C6. Black must block in that area and then White can then play 51.C3 and prevent Black from connecting along the A edge.
I think White was ignoring or missing your threats during the last for or five moves.
You meant i1, no ?
I think i1 is clearly the logical move : blocks the lower black group from making a fork and you still have one turn to block it from being a bridge.
After 47.h1, 48.a1 wasn't necessary. Bridges are easily cut. White should have played 48. i1 instead killing the black stones!
49.a1 50.a2 51.b1 52.c2!
For Richard: It would be nice to have the coordinates on every board as an option.
