Real time games

I talked to a good player, that used to play here, at playsite recently and asked him why he would not be playing at little golem anymore and he said he liked realtime games more.

I was wondering if some kind of chat for each game, Hex Chat, Chess Chat etc. could be done so people could talk if they were both on at the same time. This would open up the possibility of using the New Games page to challenge and play unrated games while chatting. This would only work under the existing system if you refresh the browser to see his or her moves .

I think it would ad a lot to the site to be able to talk and play. The nice thing too verses present real time gaming places would be the ability to play the game over several days because of the way they are stored at Little Golem.

    Thoughts ?

One more thing, This would also be a good way for someone to show hex strategy, answer questiions and such :)

    IRC.

Internet Relay Chat or Realtime Chat, or whatever.

    Instant Messenger is the same.

An advantage would be that you would not mess with the golem 'personal notes' section. And would not redraw the screen too often.

The disadvantage is that you openyourself up to all that IRC stuff, which I seem to remember means spam….

I quit using ICQ because the spam got too bad. I still use AOL instant messenger and MSN instant messenger. Does anybody else use these? If so, what are your screen names for them? I'm TrayGIT for AOL instant messenger and traydedrickson@hotmail.com for MSN instant messenger.
