Take a look at game 98061 between na_wspak (1637) and Magnus Öberg (1578). It's currently up waiting for move 55.

Well, game 37791 lasted for 72 moves (not including the resign).

i think i made major mistakes and now its hopeless…

72 moves might be a record! If that game had been played on a Kosmos set, a link might have had to have been removed from elsewhere on the board, and maybe a peg also. Kosmos was a little skimpy with the pegs and links- around 35 to 40 pegs, and about 30 links, of each color. (Maybe they have more pieces in their later editions.) Black used 31 links in the final position. 50 pegs and 40 links for each side is preferable. The 3M and AH sets had about that many, I believe. The classy Felsberger set (which I don't have; 338 Euros is a bit beyond my range) has about 50 red and 50 green marbles with about 80 black sticks for the links.

My Kosmos set, which I bought last year, has 40 white and 41 red pegs (which is a bit silly, as white plays first) and 30 links of each colour.

The current long game includes na_wspak. My longest game was (55 moves) against na_spak. and the possible record-holder, mentioned above, included na_wspak. He seems to have a style that's conducive to protracted struggles.

The 72-move game was with Tray Dedrickson vs. mirror_man.

1. When was my resign obvious, and how long did I uselessly go on?

2. How many moves were there missing for the game to end without resign? Apparently it would have ended at 74.
