When both players have been around for a while, the winner gains the same amount of points as the loser lose. However, when playing against “fresh” players, this do not apply. If you have been around for a while, and play against someone new, the rating change for you will be very small, win or lose. For your opponent, the rating change is calculated in the ordinary fashion.
I think this is a good system, as it prevents vultures from “attacking” newbies who often has a higher rating than skills.
