Does anyone know why we have so many players in League 1 of the new championship (12 players)? How many players will be relegated from league 1? Four and have another 12 players in the next championship or seven to have the usual 9 players?

There are little changes for championships. From now there are clear rules for promotion to higher level (1.-2nd position) and for preservation in level (3-5th place). 6th and other players fall to lower level.

9 players is only minimum number of players in group.

Won't sometimes lower-finishing players have to retain their position (or even be promoted) because of players in higher sections leaving the championships?

what happens if, after u reach a certain championshiplevel, don't attend the next championship…do u get automatically dropped a level?

If somebody do not attend in championship, he will consider in next championship as new player (start in lowest level).

If in group is fewer than 9 players. Player on 6th (and 7th,8th,…) position is alternate player.

Could you please also tell us why we have 12 players in league 1? Is it because of some players that had a position in the league but for some reason they are not taking part in the championship?

I give to some players “wild card” - right to play in 1st league. This right can get player who never play in 1st league, who has excelent results in tournaments (players with best rating). This rule is important for new very strong players.

How does that work then? do we just ask if we can get a wild card? or does it get somehow decided at the start of a tournament?

and will this “wild-card” right extend in other games too, like reversi for examble?

I have only one rule for these wild card (NOW !). It is for all players who are in TOP10 rating list. Similar rule was used for go19x19 and chess (because there are very slowly games).

I think this rule has influence in current championship, because there are a lot of new strong players. For example in go13x13 nobody from TOP10 play in first league (but go13x13 was very long tournament).

Oh, but i just earned my place in the first league :-)

so if i am understanding this correctly, next go13x13 championship will have 19 players…all players in the top 10, the top 7 from current championship and 2 promotors from championship level 2 (different from the top 10 as u said)

ofcourse the ones that promote from level 2 could be in top 10, still leaves the amount minimum at 17 players

17 sounds like a big number!

What about having a new kind of tournamemt, we could call it “open championship”, and everyone could register for it?

That would make a HUGE number !
