I won the Silver Medal in the 2004 internet Scrabble Olympics without losing a game (three rounds of round robin play). I tied for first in the finals with the gold medalist from New Zealand by throwing down a bingo on the last turn of the game to come from behind 74 points to tie the game. The official Scrabble rules state that in the event of a tie, the player who was ahead before the tie play is the winner. Therefore I "lost" the gold medal game by the "tie rule" still, one of my most important achievements. I received a very nice silver medal from down under (the web site is "scrabble bug", google it if you're interested). I dropped playing at that site when I discovered this website in Sept of 2005. |
