Downtime
  • Oakmoss at 2012-04-22

Was anyone else unable to access the site for the past 40 hours or so, or was that just me?

I timed out on several games in the process. Granted, it's on me that I let the time run down as much as I did, but I did still have time left that I was prevented from using.

  • klaashaas at 2012-04-22

You're not alone. It also cost me a vacation day. I'll get over that, though.

  • christian freeling at 2012-04-22

I was on the verge of suicide, then I realized that it would imply having my games time out …

  • Nevermind at 2012-04-22

I checked this regularly for the past day and a half:

And it was not just me.

  • MarleysGhost at 2012-04-22

I first noticed LG was down some time Friday 2012-04-20 around 23:00 GMT.

[Sorry for the duplicate. Whatever. Nevermind.]

  • Christian K at 2012-04-22

Yes, the site was down. Sometimes it is, but more often then not it is up.

  • dead eye at 2012-04-22

apparently lg was not down, but local optic fibre was damaged

  • bennok at 2012-04-23

Any news from Richard? Will we “time travel” this time?
I had 12 timeouts due to the downtime :(

  • Aganju at 2012-04-23

I could not connect Friday evening/night, Sat evening/night, Sunday completely, and now it's Monday.
I was always someone who told people to stop whining if they let their time run down to 1 hour, and then cannot connect during that hour.
But I lost now nearly 96 hours, which I think is beyond the stop-whining-zone. :-(

    > ..local optic fibre was damaged

That was probably the NSA installing their tap so they can monitor this conversation.

Osama bin Laden, bomb, TNT, jetliner, explosive vest, terrorist, Muslim, dynamite, airplane, Taliban, imam

Now their filtering software can declare the mission a success. :)

Nah. No spelling mistakes, won't trigger.

  • FatPhil at 2012-04-24

I'm having the occasional glitch from the server when I maka a move (only sometimes, and the move does seem to be registered):

“Incorrect key file for table './golem/indexgame.MYI'; try to repair it”

  • FatPhil at 2012-04-24

And my game state has become corrupted in one of my games. (White moved in dvonn, and at the end of the move, the pile was black.)

Probably safest to not play any more until there's confirmation things are OK.

  • MarleysGhost at 2012-04-24

StreetSoccer game 1431181 shows it's my turn, even though I was the last to move. Move 34 (a roll of 4) by Red (me) is now about to be followed by move 35 (a roll of 2) also by Red. This is weird. I'm going to forgo moving for the nonce.

  • MarleysGhost at 2012-04-24

In comparision, StreetSoccer game 1431184 is working normally. cbzim just made a move (49, a roll of 1) as Yellow, I made a move (50, a roll of 6) as Red, and now it's not my turn.

  • Russ Williams at 2012-04-25

Several Slither games and a tournament are messed up also:

There was a problem with crashed database table.

  • MarleysGhost at 2012-04-26

My StreetSoccer game is fixed. Thank you, Richard, for repairing the database before I gave in to temptation and took two turns in a row.

  • FatPhil at 2012-04-26

Is it safe to continue playing? I have time and holidays in hand, so can hold off if there's any chance of playing causing or suffering from further corruption.

  • MarleysGhost at 2012-04-26

AFAICT, things are back to normal.

  • unique at 2012-04-26

    SNAFU

  • Aganju at 2012-04-26

Another day lost. It's getting really obnoxious, I have only a limited time a day, and it was down within that window again. Guess I'm going to move on.

  • Ray Garrison ★ at 2012-04-26

actually, it appears Richard gave back some vacation days…I had lost three days I think, and they are no longer on my vacation list.

  • Ray Garrison ★ at 2012-04-28

and for the record, some games that timed out during the snafu were subsequently reinstated..

(see the interesting breakthrough forum thread “Breakthrough Championship #16” for proof of timed out games being reinstated )

  • Ray Garrison ★ at 2012-04-29

(roro's predictions go back to an earlier state!)

  • Christian K at 2012-04-30

site was down again today, eh?

  • Got Twixt at 2012-04-30
