Reply to this topic Return to forumRichard added this game today. I signed up to play, but have no idea how to play! Rules aren't posted and can't find info on the web. Is it related tow Wyps? Anyone know anything about QYPS?

Couldnt find the game, until i just navigated there by changing the url directly.
Small QYPS tournament created https://www.littlegolem.net/ng/a/Ctrn.action?dto.id=1051
Thanks to Richard for the new game and the new rules at http://www.littlegolem.net/jsp/games/gamedetail.jsp?gtid=qyps&page=rules !
I can't figure out how to move. Even if I have three stones down, with each one that touches sharing a color, it won't let me send the move. For example, if you are able to see this, what is wrong here?

rules seem to read,
when placing new stones (your colour [outside ring] up) they must all contain a common colour
also if the same colour exists in the opponents stones of the line extended then make them yours (turn them over [flip um])
after a re read of rules, (note most problems have x dimensions, best to read rules x times)
the placed stones (or stone) must have a common colour and be connected
if new lines are formed of common colour flip them
winner is who can connect all edges (e.g. join two corners will do)
so connect like a “Y” or “Ypsilon” , thus the “yps” in wyps and qyps. but what does the “q” stand for? Any ideas?
Very interesting question Ray!
Perhaps Q stands for Quantum? We all the Quantum Chromodynamics theory.
after looking at unusual q words (http://phrontistery.info/q.html) my best guess is
quantivalencechemical valence; ability of atoms to hold other atoms in combination
from playing, not sure if it's stated in rules
after making a chain of stones with a common colour continue expanding the chain with existing stones that contain the common colour
note:- you can only extended the chain from the last stone selected
To make game more friendly allow continuation when you can not win with the current rules, change rules so that you score a point when you link all edges and if drawn when the board is full add another point, this would enable more chat
Not sure if that would make the game better. And I'm even less sure whether it would add chatting; many players don't really seem to be in the mood for discussing their games regardless of rules.
I would suggest that the mobile smart phone while encouraging more chat has the opposite effect when playing games here because texting is a lot slower, is it possible to attach/link sound files in the message box to allow real chat (one way at a time like the moves)
if you link a straight line flip them all to you colour
if not straight link then flip first hex-tile of opponent selected
p.s. must test want happens if I select my hex-tile first on a non straight link
You can also select any of opponent tiles in the link after the move is ready for posting, should help.
