Who's who?
  • Dvd Avins at 2011-06-16

Looking at the top list, Hannifred, RoRoRo, Hubble, and Naive Child are acknowledged bots. I don't think there are any other bots. Does anyone have a contrary impression?

And iirc, jonny is one of two IDs for a player, but I forget the name of the other one. Are both IDs highly rated? Are there other dupes? I don't think so, but again, is anyone under a different impression?

  • Jonny at 2011-06-16

Well, i know Fraggle_c and in the list is “Valkyria9 bot”.

My other nickname is “opmp” and i were with both nicks for a short in the Top 10. Now i played a lot 1-point-Games with opmp, to see what my ratingcharts does…

There are some more dupes, i thing. But i dont know it sure.

Fraggle_c was also programmed (like hanfried_c; operator is KITAKTUS) at the university in jena (Germany), programmer was INGO_S but both bot and player are not on this page anymore as I know.

“Valkyria9 bot” is not always a bot. The human/programmer is currently playing at EWN, specific bots are not programmed for all kind of games - This is definitely not an EWN bot.

There is a new account, Aaron C, this could be also a bot (nickname and in terms of playing style)

Hubbie's last game is 4 years ago, So we should have 4 active bots.

  • KPT at 2011-06-16

    Aaron C is human.

  • Dvd Avins at 2011-06-16

Fraggle_c does not have any results when searching for a player. And I wonder why hubbie_c is still shown on the list of players by EWN rating. At least in the past, you had to be active in some game to remain visible on the page for all games where you had a rating.

  • YHW at 2011-06-16

Ok, if Aaron C is human, we should have 3 active bots. I'm playing so many games…in my feeling there can't be no others.

    One clarification:

    > Fraggle_c was also programmed … at the university in jena (Germany),

That is not exactly true. Fraggle was programmed by

Ingo Schwab who was an external doctoral student at Jena Unversity.

It is already some years ago that Ingo Schwab got his doctor title.

Some of his material on EWN and on Fraggle can be found on the following site:

hahaha, nice comment found in published code of fraggle_c:

“// Version 0_52 Theos Bug entfernt.”

    Who is theo ?! ;) “…van der Storm” ?

  • kitaktus at 2011-06-17

For a short time two other bot variants were playing on LG:

    - Bigfraggle_c which was nearly identical with Fraggle_c, but used more time, or somthing like this.

    - mcrandom_c a variant of hanfried using only MC for move evaluation.

Is someone forming a team consisting entirely of bots? If so, I suggest “Botticelli”, “Botch”, “Bocche”, or “EinBot Wuefelt Doch” as the team name.

  • Aaron Coombs at 2011-06-18

How am i a bot? I'm also not new to littlegolem, in a couple days i will have been playing for one year.

  • Aaron Coombs at 2011-06-18

Also Aaron C is my real name, Aaron R Coombs. When i first came to littlegolem i used my online nickname 'arcmesaaaz' (arc- my initials, mesa- my home town and az- the state)

  • MRFvR at 2011-06-18

Given the LG culture of naming bots as (randombotname)_c is easily perceivable why “Aaron C” was seen as a computer player.

    Dear my naive child,

here comes one more of our fruitful discussions.

    You wrote:

    > Who is theo ?! ;) “…van der Storm” ?

Indeed Theo van der Storm was meant.

Fraggle started playing on LittleGolem in April 2006.

Theo was an opponent several times and - as usual in his

helpful manner - made comments on Fraggle's playing style

and also on its weak spots.

The author of Fraggle took the advice seriously. One repair

action he called “Theos bug entfernt”, with the meaning:

“deletion of a bug which Theo had found in a game against Fraggle”.

Now, please, concentrate on our team activities again.

    Hello MarleysGhost,

    > is someone forming a team consisting entirely of bots? If so,

    > I suggest “Botticelli”,

I would like expecially this proposal because of my history.

In Summer 2002, the computer olympiad (+workshop) took place

at Maastricht University. In that week I lived in the very nice

Botticelli hotel (in Maastricht), together with my wife and

with David Levy. In the workshop it was the very first time that

I gave a public talk on “computer aided game inventing”.

Two + epsilon years later I invented EWN, using also the stuff

and concepts on which I had spoken in Maastricht.

So, having a “Botticelli”-team will always remind me of the

    summer 2002 in Maastricht.

    Ingo.

    And thank you kpato

  • MarleysGhost at 2011-06-18

Of course I meant “EinBot Wuerfelt Doch”, not “Wuefelt”.
