Current options for online Hex play? (Especially at varied board sizes)
  • jsiehler at 2020-09-21

Hi – I'm sure this information is available scattered throughout the forums, but I wonder if it'd be possible to round up in one thread as many of the currently-available options for playing hex online, or with mobile apps.  I'm particularly interested in

options that allow various sizes, including smaller than 11x11. Thanks!

PlayOK, hexy.games and boardgamearena, as far as I know.

Board Game Arena 6x6, 11x11, 14x14, 15x15; both real time and turn based

Game Center 8 through 15, and 19; real time

    Playok 11, 13, 14, 19; real time

Gamerz 4 through 26; turn based

The new amecy games 3 to 32; turn based

There was a server based in Hungary, which called Hex “Hid” with an accent over the i. The swap rule was implemented incorrectly. The rating system was based on betting. You would bet however many of your ratings points you wanted.

It's probably on Tabletop Simulator. It's also on a relatively recent app “something 51 games something” size 11 only, no swap rule.

One of my own favorites is

    Hex+ ( https://hex.plus/)

It's clean, modern-looking, and easy to use for quick play with a friend, but only 11x11 and with no options for game review afterward.

    I forgot Boardspace.net 11, 15, and 19; real time

The best android app I know is Hex: a connection game by Five Factorial. there are two apps, one is 11 and the other is 14.
