How do you exit/cancel an unwanted tournament?

I was included in the just starting hex championship tournament
but I don't want to be (I don't have the time to play). How can
I cancel my participation in this tournament? I could simply lose
every game on time but that would hurt my rating and annoy
everybody who is playing. There should be a way to leave a
tournament that you don't want to participate in (provided you
haven't made any moves yet).

I agree. I also think no games should be rated unless there has been made at least 2 moves on each side!

Tore, for other games I might agree with that, but in Golem's Word Game I don't agree. If I make my first two moves and in doing so I find two words that score a bunch of points, (thus giving myself a big lead) at that point I don't think my opponent (who has just made one move) should be able to simply quit the game without losing rating points. However, I DO like the idea of being able to quit a tourney if both you and your opponent have not made any moves at all yet.

For championship you have to 'Remove' yourself from the list, if you don't want to be in the next. So if you don't want to be in the same situation, Remove yourself from Amazon (next championship is coming). -------------
I think Richard should make championship sign up more transparent... people don't see if they are registered or not.

I agree with your view on GWG Ed. I think that in GWG you should rate games once the licitation is over.

I can be the sub for you (if that's possible). I just missed the sign up (forgot to registrate).

For instant requests you should mail (or message) Rio, rather then use the forum... I guess it is easier for "Richard Malaschitz"....

I've already made the request by email *three* times!
So it appears that no matter how you make the request
nor how many times you do it, you can never leave an
unwanted tournament.

I'm also resigning my GWG games, but that is because I don't want to plya the game anymore, so it doesn't matter that my rating falls, I guess that is pretty much a different situation (and I signed up willingly).

I'm like you Hjallti - I don't want to play my GWG games either anymore - of corse my reasons is that it takes a lot of "work" to play each game (since I like to win) - and since any lose for me means my rating drops at least 20 points - sometimes over 30 points since I have such a high rating. So now I need to slowly try to finish my current games! ------------ I need to play more "mindless" games where I don't have to think so much! +++ BBW

Somehow, it seems I have signed up for the Four in a Row Tourney...never played it, don't know how, and don't really want to learn. I will be resigning all as my next turn comes around. I do not care about the rating for that game at all.

As stated in the last post by Judy, I noticed that in the sep1.1 MC tournament, she resigned a game with me and 1 other person. Since she made no moves in the game against me, it stated that it was no UNRATED - and where she made 1 move against the other person before resigning, it counted it as rated. Is this how it is suppose to work? (I guess I never came across this situation, and found it weird that it was counted as unrated. Yet I noticed that if someone times out without making a move, it is rated. ?????? I'm a little confused) ++++ BBW

There was a bug in a software. From now, short resigned games (< 2 moves) are unrated. This rule is suitable for exit from tournament.
