In Greece, according to a month-old law, any use of electronics to play a game is now illegal. Even using a home PC to play on this server could incur a fine of from $5,000 to $75,000 or a jail senetence of at least a month. For details, see http://news.com.com/2100-1040-956357.html?tag=dd.ne.dht.nl-hed.0 or many other web sites.
I hope some extra "vacation" can be given to Greek players here, in case they are obliged to obey this law.
That's stupefying! Nigel Short, the chess grandmaster who once challenged Kasparov for the World Championship, lives in Greece and has been a frequent player on the Internet Chess Club. I wonder what he thinks of all this... Thanks for the info!
How would the government know your playing electronic games.? --- IMO, Any government that thinks banning such devices will somehow help stop gambling (C4 explanation) has seriously "lost the plot". !
