How about old fashioned captain picking, random captains chosen or something then they get to pick.

That idea sounds interesting, but I would lke to see country or state tourneys also. There seems to be enough for countries that are next to each other to jointly represent?

My idea was create teams automatic according to states(countries). Top four players (rating) from one country create team, next four players create "B" team, etc. There will be similar system as is in championship.

Well, Then I would suggest Belgium to play with the Netherlands... both belgian players are dutchspeaking anyway. (Final of the reversi country cup should be NeBe A against NeBe B, then :-))

Hmm... how about trying getting some more Belgium players in here?:) I would not want to miss the classic NL-BE clash!

I don't think any Dutch person wants to miss another cup this year... We already missed the most important one of the year...

NO TO CHOOSING TEAMS BY THE RANKINGS! There are too many people highly ranked in Chess who no longer play on LG, or who have yet to prove they truly warrant the ranking they entered LG with. When I looked at the Chess Rankings the other day, I noticed three players at 2100, two of whom made a total of two moves before dropping out in May 2002. Also, the third player played only in non-Tournament games, and seemingly dropped out in July. I would hate to see such players come back to life and head the team when their real ratings might be hundreds and hundreds of points lower. Rankings among the top ten should be based on a minimum number of games completed.

It least people in the teams should be 'registering' into the tournament, and maybe some proof of faithfulness to the site (like a completed tournament or so, should be given)
