From the rules: "At the end of game... Now is possible to connect tiles across empty fields. For example word TATTOO - 54 points is correct. "
This is not as helpful as it might be - the example grid shows 4 Ts, 3 As, and 3 Os.
I have two specific questions.
(1) Can I connect across a field which I have only just emptied (so long as there are other fields which were empty ast the start of my turn)?
(2) Can I now leave a letter by the same route that I came in by?
No doubt this will all become obvious when I actually reach that stage of the game.
Yea, the rules on this site are not the best. (They are not the worst either.) But I once you start playing, you figure it out pretty quick. ----------------------------------------- OK, to answer a couple of your questions (as best as I can.) (1) Can you connect across a field which I just emptied? If I understand this question - NO. As you play your turn, you do not actually "empty" the field until you submit. (2) YES, you can "leave" a letter by the same route as you came to it. --------------------------------------------- Again, I'm not sure if these answers will help much, since it is pretty hard to try to "explain" the game - but like you said, once you reach that stage, you will figure it out. :-) +++BBW
The board makes it pretty clear where you can go...just follow the lines. Turning corners and back-tracking ARE allowed across empty fields. You might also notice that when you select a letter, all ALLOWABLE connections from that letter appear in blue type. Really very easy to see where you are allowed to go. I hope this helps.
WOW at the score on campfire. I am glad I read it and looked at her game. I had no idea we could overlap or backtrack like that. I have missed some good words then!
When I click on a letter tile, all of the letters on the entire board that I'm allowed to click on NEXT are all colored BLUE. The letters that are NOT connected to the letter I just clicked on, and thus are not valid choices, are all colored BLACK. Thus, isn't it obvious which letters are valid? Just look for blue letters and you don't even have to know the rules of crossing over, or backtracking, etc.
understandably if you play that way.. Most of us new to the game stare at the board looking for the words. I for one dont try to make words up by clicking a few letters then seeing what is available next to click. Tho I will implement that in to my game play now.
