I have done a lot of requests and seen a lot of improvements on this fantastic site.

I would like to create a list of everything suggested. I would only try to moderate it and not try to censure out what I don't think is good.

I want to make the suggestion ordered therefor a first short attempt.

Please add all possible suggestions with the logical code as indicated in the list below (I have to search much less if you do so, and it costs you only some seconds). It is easy to act funny and disturb this list fast. I can think of some ways. If you do so, you will drop in my esteem.

A. General gameplay

1. Automove when only one move (rev (e.g. 'pass'), einstein, chess, ....) available

B. Time

1. Vacation days to be earned, 1 each 2 weeks or so.

2. When someone times out: unsubscribe from all future tournaments (can manually resubscribe)

3. Time left of the player himself on the game list when it is opponents turn.

C. lay out website

1. Banner adds fixed size, so that 'skip game' and 'move list' don't move.

2. Colums of game list and tournaments are sometimes to small, even when browser a wide open

D. new games

1. variants for current games

2. new games on same turnbased principle

3. new games on other turn principle (3 player, moving simultanously, ...)

E. Communication and rules

1. Update of the rules.. I don't want to search rules elsewhere

F. forum

1. Also a miscelanous forum (apart from the general) distinction between on-topic and off-topic

G. request for specific games

(format):

G.ch

G.go

G.hex

Two things. Nothing new.

1. Display the number of vacation days left for any player in his info. I would otherwise not change the vacation system. If players get vacation days on other days than 1st Jan, it would make the system even less transparent.

2. If the list of recently finished games, list 10 games WITH TOURNAMENT.

Those like me who check tournament info very frequently are probably interested in the games of our tournaments and the parallel tournaments (other groups of players you will match in next round) but not interested in other games. I spend a lot of time profiling my opponents and want to review their finished games. I check this list frequently just to see if there is news.

Thank in advance Santa Claus, I may believe in you again ;-)

Example of how I would like this tread to become:

erratic could have done this contribution: it would have been a little difference (time loss) for him and a big one (time gain) for me.

B4. Display the number of vacation days left for any player in his info

C3??? If the list of recently finished games, list 10 games WITH TOURNAMENT. (I have no clue what you mean exactly, do you mean on the front page of each game? )

H. Tournaments

H1. Tournament pages (like created for UT) as well for MC and Championship

remarks:

con B1. If players get vacation days on other days than 1st Jan, it would make the system even less transparent

By the way, I will be only back in 10 days, I will in meantime only play some games with to much time pressure... so I hope to get back with a nice surprize...

A.2: Conditional moves.

Assume an opponent's move and enter a follow-up-move; if the opponent moves as assumed, the follow-up-move is done automatically. Ideally it would be possible to play ahead as many moves as one likes.

A.3: Move with fewer clicks.

After clicking on a piece that can move in only one way, no second click should be necessary (e.g. shogi pawn).

In Einstein, one should not have to click the moving piece, if only one piece can be moved.

A4. In Street Soccer, display the die to be played to everyone, not just the player whose turn it is. This is already done in Einstein.

A.4: Daemonless upkeep

The daemon dies often enough that this issue never goes away completely. Replace the daemon with code that does what the daemon does automatically, like for example, when a game ends, the messages announcing its end go out immediately, without waiting for a daemon or anything else.

Use that same daemonless technology to start a monthly cup tournament when the 5th player registers.

Use daemonless technology to score the current Game of Empathy and start a new one when a user GETs the GoE page and the time for the old game has elapsed.

@Hjallti Can you elaborate on D3 please? What exactly is the "other turn principle"?

Most board games use the principle that 2 players move each on their turn, like here.

However some games use different mechanics

either 3 or more players

or moving at the same time (I don't know if you know roborally or for instance vampirering (don't know the exact name --www.youplay.it--), a very easy example is paper/scissors/stone (I don't know the exact name in English)

The point is that the computer only should proces the moves if both players have announced there choice.

I can also imagine still other turn principles, but I think this would be not the place to discuss them.

I figure that this might be possible on this site, but it is much more work for Richard. I believe in auto-bidding in GWG the source file 'leaks' the opponents choice, which is not advisible.

G.gwg.1 Solve the auto-bidding bug which leaks the bid. It would make the games between topplayers faster.

I would make the numbers:

G.soccer.1 display the die to be played to everyone, not just the player whose turn it is.

A.4. Daemonless upkeep

I'd like to amend B4:

B4. Display the number of vacation days left for any player in his info

Here is my amendment:

B4A: When a vacation day is triggered, instead of bouncing the time in all of the player's games, stop the clock and display the remaining vacation hours.

For example:

Time for players: 198/0 (on vacation: 480)

Time for players: 17 (on vacation: 480) /240

-- and then the 480 (20 days) would count down, and the 0 and 17 remain frozen, until the player comes back.

This would be functionally equivalent, but visually clearer.

> WITH TORURNAMENT. (I have no clue what you mean exactly, do you mean on the front page of each game? )

I mean the main page should list the tournament.

Instead of E.g.:

#1216851 | 2 minutes ago | 228

List:

#1216851 | go19.mc.2010.jul.1.13 | 2 minutes ago

This way, if you are not interested in the tournament you will not click at all.

(The number of moves is much less interesting than the tournament in my opinion.)

Sorry, should have clarified it more.

This thread contains a nice overview of possible improvements, already.

Not sure where to group this one into:

Any Enhancement Requests should be submitted as a comment to membership payment or other donations.

A typical member does not need more vacation days, but would feel more valuable if their improvement hints were obviously read and eventually even considered.

Of course no reply or responses like "that can't be implemented for 19 EUR" or "sorry, but your membership payment will be used for the domain fee" are all legitimate.

There were many changes and enhancements to this site during the past years, but they were "never" related to forum requests.

IMO, grouping the requests by topic or priority won't change this.

A3: I disagree with this one. I think it's nice to see the only allowed move after I've chosen a stone. To me, it would be confusing if it was auto-moved after I clicked it.

@Michael X

Any Enhancement Requests should be submitted as a comment to membership payment or other donations

I will declare it as a late comment to my donation of the first FAQ to this site, or maybe I will post it and then declare it a donation (of effort) to this site and then add it to itself as a comment.
