I'm usually not far from a computer (home, work, school, friend, etc.) and able to make all my moves with plenty of time to spare. However, for about a month or two starting in two weeks I may be unable to access Little Golem for days at a time. I was thinking of asking for short vacations but I realized I don't even know how to do that. Where does one click to set up a vacation?

you don't do a thing.
once your first game reaches 0 hours, it takes a vacation day automatically (and sends you an email telling so).

(assuming the timer demon is running. Otherwise, you just get -nnn hours shown)

That would be great for me, but I just finished a game where my opponent and I played every day and on his profile it says "on vacation!" How is that possible?
And your reply makes me think of another question: is the e-mail you receive important? In other words, does the e-mail tell you if you have to do anything to interrupt the vacation? Judging from the example above, the vacation doesn't end when you make a move.
And one more question: does having the correct e-mail in your profile matter? I'm asking because after the password disaster when I first started playing here (I had to start all over with a different nick) I was afraid to change my e-mail when I got a new one several months ago.

a) it is possible because once a vacation day is used, the profile mark saying 'on vacation' stays there for 24 hours. (sometimes a little bit longer). Also, if you reach 0 time in one single game, it triggers a vacation day for all games, so all your games get 24 h added, and you used up one vacation day.
So if there is a game you played just a minute ago, it will show with '264 h left' (240 + 24). Funnily, once you make a move, you get cut back to 240.
b) no, the email just tells you that you just used a vacation day. You can see then once you log on anyway. It does not contain any information you wouldn't get by logging on, and no reaction is needed. Only problem is if you forget about LG completely, and don't get that email, you will not know when all your vacation is used up, and then you lose your games.
c) it certainly is a good idea to correct it there, but 'No'. If it is not valid, you email just goes to email-heaven (or -hell). You will just never know that you used a vacation day.
In other words, if you keep count of your vacation yourself, you are fine.
Remember, the first game reaching 0 triggers the vacation day, but all games get 24 h, so you could never need two vacation days within a day.

That is, instead of losing on time a game, all the games "halt" and you lose a vacation day.
If you have no available vacation days, instead of halting, you lose the game by timing out.

Thank you guys. I'll make sure all my games are close to the 240 hours, so - even if I'm gone for a few days - I probably won't need any vacation days.
