could have a lot more opening theory, and in general I think there's a lot more that could be added to it.
I realise that there are lots of tactical manoeuvres and opening tactics that I could probably add to the wiki, but I don't want to/don't have time to do the web stuff.
If someone would like to collaborate, with me providing the hex stuff: ideas, text and describing diagrams, but with them doing the implementation I would be happy to try that out.
I guess this would be an enthusiastic player new to Hex but quick on the web and has some time they'ed like to put into it.
I would really like to see some more theory getting written down. I'm not a very good player, but yearn to more. At LG there is a critical mass of good players who might make it happen.
I would also love to see HexWiki improved. Any work you could do on it would be greatly appreciated. IMHO, implementing the diagrams is not too hard (probably not much harder than describing what you wanted to someone else), thanks to the command.
Then, also, try to edit a page (you don't have to actually edit it, just click the "Edit" link), and then you'll see the code used to generate the diagrams on it. It's not quite as easy as placing pieces on a board, but it's about as easy as you could imagine a text based diagram-drawing-thing to be.
Then I'll want someone who understands the game well to come along and see if they think that what I've written is reasonable... Ahh Art, I see that you're one of the best players around. Maybe I'll message you :)
By the way, this may not happen soon... Unfortunately my job turns out to take up lots of time. Anyone else find that? :)
Ah, I see the actual command is left out (perhaps because it is an html tag?) of my message on 10-07. For completeness, it is:
"less-than-sign" hex "greater-than-sign"
Niall: I'm happy to offer assistance to anyone trying to improve HexWiki. I also understand the business about jobs. Though, as I tell my students, I'm lucky in that I love my job, because I get to do math all day. :)
