Correct me if I'm wrong, but in March of next year, 2012, Little Golem will celebrate its 10-year anniversary.
We should do something different, to celebrate the big "event" but exactly what I'm not sure.
Ideas?
Public forum discussion.

Totally agree!!

Live meetups around the world?
Anyone in New England or New York?
6 May 2011
New Jersey; I could meet in CT or something.
7 May 2011
video conference....
7 May 2011
video conference of the live meetups around the world.
7 May 2011
a big tournament with all the games??
7 May 2011
video conference of the live meetups around the world is realy good idea :)
at least one group from each country :)
7 May 2011
A big tournament with all the games is already going on (Monster of Littlegolem) and it is taking a loooong time.
8 May 2011
at least one group from each country...
OR lonely players of each countries.
but the thing is, all connected via Video
8 May 2011
there is no Monster tournament happening. Monster 2 ended a long time ago. The Tour of Littlegolem is currently in progress and has been going a looong time. Monster 3 could be a good way to celebrate the 10th anniversary...

Not for those of use who don't want to spend six hours a day here, it wouldn't.
8 May 2011
live meetups would give an idea about how fast games can be
( 1-2 hours for a single go19,but how long does it take to play a dozen games in parallel, reasonably fast ?)
How long would a live Tour of LG take ? ( sure more than one weekend nonstop playing ? )

I live event, where we could actually meet each other, would have been nice. But how many would be able to participate in something like that? I'd sure do a lot to try and get there, but probably like most of you, I have obligations both at home and at work. Where and when should such an event take place, to make sure it gets the most participants?

I'm in favor of a 2-day live event too. There's a huge chance I'll be there, if it's in Europe. Germany, France or Slovakia (symbolic) would be logical choices, IMO, but we can hold a poll to get an indication of what is the best location.

Far Oer Islands ;-)
9 May 2011
then i´m out ....
9 May 2011
Well, why not on a border town holland-germany. Must be in a village not too small... Nijmegen? Hey, I can walk then!
9 May 2011
What about Orlando, Florida? It is a dream vacation spot for many, seriously. And it's big enough.
And there is Mickey Mouse, so you can bring spouse and kids, and they'll not complain...
9 May 2011
If Germans and French meet, they meet in Belgium, isn't it?
9 May 2011
Anyone in the Midwest? How about Indianapolis, Columbus (Ohio, not Georgia), Toledo or Chicago?
10 May 2011
Warsaw.
10 May 2011
Warsaw sounds good hehehe.
but let's find other game, and with a dedicated server just for LG players.

This would be an interesting math problem:
Locate some reasonably small number of meeting points around the globe such that the number of participants is maximized. The probability that a player attends a meeting is a function of: distance, travel time, cost, etc.
10 May 2011
How about a Marathon Game around the Globe in 24 hours... on-line video, realtime playing in teams, all games: Little Golem Olympics
10 May 2011
Idea for the Empathy players: A marathon/super Empathy session!
Richard could temporarily modify the game frequency... instead of a new Empathy game every three days, we could a new Empathy game every HOUR, over a two-day weekend. 48 different Empathy games!
The winner of this marathon tourney will be the one who scores the most points over all 48 games!
11 May 2011
I can stretch to Poland probably, as I guess scandinavia and the baltic states aren't exactly central for many LG-ers.
11 May 2011
na-wspak: Sure, Warsaw can be fine. But then you know who's gonna have to orginize it! ;-)
11 May 2011
@Ed: Great idea! (even one round per 3 hours would be great)
11 May 2011
@Marius: Since we're not gonna interference with Euro 2012 - i can do it.
11 May 2011
@Dustin: i could meet up in New York or New England as long as its not to far from me and if work and school permits it
@Dvd Avins: i could also meet up in New Jersey or Connecticut if i have the time
11 May 2011
A real anniversary should also contain some thoughts and memories about the past 10 years, highlights and stories... maybe the marathon empathy game could have this as a red thread... :)
11 May 2011
Well, live meetings would be great, but I can see how that might be difficult to arrange/put together, especially because we are spread out all over the planet.
Maybe a better idea would be just to try to log on as much as possible during whatever weekend we assign as the "official" weekend anniversary, and all play as many games as we can, fill the forums with lively conversation, etc. Maybe we can try to break whatever record currently exists for most new games started in one day, or something.
Ideally, maybe we can get the word out to some of the former Golem players, who aren't playing regularly any longer, and ask them to participate in this anniversary celebration for a little while. (If so, maybe some of these players will start to play regularly again.)
Whatever we decide, probably in early February of next year we should start making announcements/plans.
ypercube... let's split the difference... how about we propose a new Empathy game that entire weekend every two hours? :)
12 May 2011
I loved Ed's idea!!!! (and 1 hour its fine to me, but seems more fair 2 hours)
There is a kind of fast web-browser video conference.
i have seen this in some places... like a "Videochat"
something easy as "Chatroulette" (But not that kind of crap)
27 May 2011
YES SIR!, i'm a new official MEMBER of Littlegolem.
Maybe that is a good gift to our Webmaster, in 10 years of L'Golem.
Think about it!
