Yes, about 25% of the requests to the server are slow.

average 2 seconds loading time here instead of usual

yes. I tend to press click repeatedly, and then suddenly the twelfth or twentieth click works right away.

I suspect the slowness is related to the occasional NullPointerException I've been getting, which is not repeated when I refresh the page. Could it be that other NullPointerExceptions are occurring and being recovered from, showing eventually the correct output, but taking time for the recovery/retry?

I sometimes get the null pointer exception without pressing any button??

I just sit there and look at the screen, and - bang! it disappears, and I have a null pointer exception.

I don't think though that that is what makes it slow; rather it is another effect of the same cause.

And it seems to get worse over time...

Exception:java.lang.NullPointerException. I too have been getting same error. Does it have anything to do with java software? i just updated firefox and since doing so, been having compatibility issues with other software.

I have observed that every couple of months or so there is a peroid of some days where frequently the pages take 5 to 20 seconds to load, while usually the load time is below one second.

The last days have been such a period; today it seems to be well again.

@Aaron: The NullPointerException is indeed taking place in Java software, but it's Java running on the LG web server. (The .jsp in the LittleGolem URL's means "Java Server Pages".) LG does not have any Java applets that run on the browser. The browser is innocent.

Patience.

If it fails, do something else. Trying again immediately just increases server load and increases the likelyhood that others will suffer from the same issue.

Curiously enough, I'm overall a very patient guy. Nevertheless I usually reclick if my next game won't show up pronto in my browser.

As of 2011-06-25 11:00 GMT, it seems to have sped back up.
