Would Little Golem ever consider adding ladders to the site? I find ladders to be a great way to keep your skills sharp while testing yourself against equal/better players as you move up to a higher rung. It's also a way to incorporate new games without the sheer randomness of the waiting room.
@Thnikkaman: Well, the best example of ladders I think are how they do it at Goldtoken. When you join the ladder, you start at the bottom rung. You are then matched up with the first or next available player in that rung. If you win the game, you are then immediately promoted to the next rung where the process repeats itself. If you lose on the first rung, then you just stay at the first rung. When you lose on the higher rungs, then you would drop down a rung. (Like, from 6 to 5). As you get higher on the ladder, the level of difficulty should increase as you encounter more advanced players.
Often there is some flexibility with the challenges. For example, you may be allowed to challenge up to 3 places above your current spot. (But if you lose, you drop that many places.) Or, upon entering a ladder your first challenge can be anywhere in the bottom half, rather than just the just one above.
I think Thinkaman is seeing challenges as manual. And perhpas flexible, as JerNYC said. I think it would work better here if matches were started automatically, the same way a new Championship starts automatically.
