How come some players never time out? I have two games against lesma and candy. Last time they where online where Oct 5 and Oct 6. How come they have not timed out yet? Clocks where reset to 240 on Oct 19 and even with 20 vacation days they should have timed out after 30 days, but they still get added 24 hours every day. Other players in same situation has timed out now.
I am having the same problem that Tore is having, but in three games, not two. I am referring specifically to my games with Ray [#7472], Mr. Morphy [#10229], and Peter [#11518]. Not one of these players has made a move since the times were reset.
Vacation reset???? On Oct 31. Richard said he would add a vacation day to users with a specific problem. From other posts in the forum I understand this was done on Nov 10. BUT THIS STILL DOES NOT EXPLAIN THIS. Unless there has been another reset of vacation days that I dont know of. There has not been a general reset of vacation days to 20, at least I have still only 11 days left. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------I have also seen some other odd behaviour of the clock recently. Until now I have not bothered too much about the clock as I would prefer the games to be decided on the board. But now it is starting to be a bit frustrating. Many players hav stopped moving, or at least they move much less frequently than before. Why? I have no other idea than that they try to utilize the situation and prolong the game as long as possible to see if the opponent gets tired of the situation and backs out of LittleGolem. I am afraid some of them will succeed in this. At least I am starting to get frustrated by this situation.
The time reset by Richard around the start of November clearly is the reason for the confusion. But in my eyes it was necessary as some serious players would have be defeated in some games only because they are playing too much games. That would have been unfair. Here a little calculation example for a player who connected last at october 5: first he has 240 hours + 20 days. The clock doesnt run on weekend, so the game times out in 6 weeks. As Rio set all clocks back to 240 hours sometimes in this 6 weeks, every player just n vacation got another 2 weeks. So the game times out 8 weeks past the october 5, means nearly december 5. So until now all seems to work fine. :-)
No it does not make sense. Clocks DO run on weekends. Time reset was on Oct 19. 10 days later is Oct 29. Add 20 vacation days and we are at Nov 18. Add one extra vacation days that Richard for some strange reason gave to certain players and we are at Nov 19. Today we are at Nov 21 and the games are still running.....
The real problem is lack of information (far too usual at this server). What did happen in beginning of Novembr. Richard said he would add one vacation day, but to whom. Why somebody and not all? May be he gave more than one day. It is all speculations because thse who know are silent. As for the argument that some 'serious' players where about to time out because they play too many games: If they where serious players they would not ever have signed up for more games than they could cope with. I dont get the argument at all. We all signed up for the games under the same rules. If I cannot play for some days, whatever reason, and forfeits it is my problem really and I would not complain. I fully understand there where serious problems when the server moved, but they are solved now and we should get back to basics and things should be working as described in the rules.
What worries me mostis not that my games are still running. I can wait some more days. But why does not anybody who knows how this server works answer questions??
ive timed out on quite a few games
my clock seems to be working beautifully
i am having server problems with my ISP so i play as long as im connected
its a pain and having a lot of games in different sites is interesting in itself
hoping to have that problem cleared up today
found a new ISP server that works with webtv
timeouts seem totally random, Im playing a tourney game, where this guy times out EVERY day, now for a week, but KAZAAAM , after the game hits 0 hours..he gets 24 more hours, must be one of those infinity games.
maybe I wouldnt mind those neverending timeouts as much, if I got some ratingpoints each time it happened??? just a small compensation for never finishing that round?? LOL
Your opponent is most likely using his vacation days. This is normal procedure and is described in the FAQ. But we still have not heard from the admins what was/is the problem described earlier in this thread. And I still miss the possibility of viewing how many vacation days a player has left.
In the My Games section there are currently two lists of games: "Games where it is your turn" and "Games where it is your opponent's turn". Maybe there could be another list with the header "Games where it is your opponent's turn and he is on vacation." Here it could be indicated when the opponent will time out for real, rather than when he will trigger the next vacation day. I guess this would reduce the number of misunderstandings.
Is there any way to find out how many vacation days your opponent has left? I would like to know, beacause of my 5 games, 3 of them are against people currently on vacation.
All these guys are going on vacation...in December? Well, if you're playing any games vs me, don't worry. I can't afford to go on vacation, so it's unlikely I'll be timing out.
I am playing games with you, and I think your money problems will be solved when you get your next book out.
Or you could simply just sell one of your cars. (keep the ones with front wheel drive for the winter) Or rent out one or two of the empty wings of the mansion (+with adjacent bathroom(s))
It sucks to be poor.
I can't afford to pay your airfare. I have no money, remember. After all, no one read my first book except you. Don't you have some frequent flyer miles? Looks like you would, with all those trips to Switzerland, Germany, etc .that you take.
