Number of games in championship?

I'm interested in joining one of the December championship tournaments but not sure how many games there will be in it. I've noticed that for some former championships you would play two games against every opponent and in others you would play just one game against every opponent.

Is there a way to know if a tournament will be one or two games against every opponent? I apologize if I've missed another thread that talks about this.

Because many players play many championships so only one game is played between players. The exception is some games that have a small number of moves and there is an influence of chance. Another exception is when there is a small number of players (<=5) in a group.
