The next Hex Championship cycle will start in a couple days.

To be precise, it will start 168 hours, one week, from the time the last game finished. The last game was in league 3, mass vs. hobbes. Finish time: 2003-02-27 04:17 which I assume is Central European Time. So, the tournament will start on Thursday, March 6, at 4:17 am CET, which is Wednesday, March 5, at 10:17 pm on the East Coast of the US.

There are over 50 players registered so far. 9 players will be in first league, 18 will be in second, and the rest will be in third league. If registration exceeds 63, there will be a fourth league I believe. Some newcomers to the Championship cycle may get slots in the second league, but that seems unlikely. It seems more likely that several strong players, who arguably deserve first league, will start in league three, and will have to play two full cycles just to reach first league. But I urge everyone to enter anyway. The sooner you enter the cycle, the sooner you will reach the league you deserve.

I hope newcomers will enter as well. Tell your friends! Proselytize to strangers! Write learned articles! Increase your circulation! Raise the level of your home!

Actually, Little Golem time appears to be CET + 20 minutes. It's a small thing, really, but it would be nice if this were adjusted.
