Looks to me like the process that creates new tournaments is not running. There is a large backlog of people signed up for RTs and MCs but new tournies are not starting.

I'll make a guess that the simple one man operation he had last year is now an overwhelming obligation. Thus he went on vacation. Denial or avoidance is how I handle some things too.

I would suggest that some of the players with a zillion games going at once, rethink their preferences. Personally I dont like haveing more than maybe 10 games going at anytime. I am above that and it is a bit too time consuming.

It seem's like a nice way of clearing pressure on the servers, since the 15th June, we have had 15 tounies finish in Gomoku, without a single one being started, I'm sure it's similar in the other games.

Look on the tourney pages and you'll notice all the games have long waiting lists.

Your right that it does seem to be a nice way to clear some services. Already things seems to be moving a bit quicker, or not at all.

I don't see much of a connection between server load and Richard going on vacation. High server load might slow things down, but I don't imagine it would create more work for him and drive him away.

Hmm... or am I wrong here? Has high server load been causing crashes and forcing Richard to fix things? Does Richard need to do something manually every time a tournament starts?

I think you're right, James. And in general, no, Richard doesn't have to do anything manually to start a tournament. He does participate in the starting of championships, though.

The onlky thing he has to do manually is restart the daemon when it goes out.
