If there was a "room" were open invites could be posted would u be willing to use it.? --- I am in the situation where i am unable to see the players list, with the alternative is to use the tournament section to find players. But using the direct invite can be a little off putting, unless u have played this person previously. At least using this room u know that the person accepting from here, actually does want to play u.! Thanks. Ian

Waiting Room is first thing in my TODO list. I plan several features: Who is on fist move or random, rating/unrating game, oponents must have rating from/to, size of board(hex, amazons), opening (chess), handicap gamne (go19). Has anybody some new idea ?

I left the message above after HAPPY (?) KID left one of his spams last night. Obviously it is not in response to the messages above it which were left some eight years ago.

On the plus side, it looks like all his spams and/or allucinating messages and insults have been deleted. Two thumbs up to Richard!

Thanks Richard. How about "balanced first move"? That is, the computer chooses the first player in such a way as to converge on "more fair". For example, if players A and B have only played each other 4 times (which may take years on a site like this), is it really fair if player A went first all 4 times? In fact, I'd make that the default, at least for single games (tourneys are a different matter, of course).

The new database table that would be necessary to make this happen efficiently could also be easily adapted for tracking win-loss-draw records between individual players. For example, it would be interesting to know, at the start of a game, that your record against your opponent is 4-5-0 (4 wins, 5 losses, 0 draws). This would take some of the focus off of ratings (which encourages cheating) and places it on individual rivalries.

Silly me, didn't look at the dates, and didn't realize this thread is really old, revived by a vandal... thanks, Richard, anyway, for deleting the vandal's messages and staying on top of things :-)
