This is because the number of players and total of all points in the system is increasing...we have currently more than 440 players, but I know more than 750 that have tried EWN from which a lot are not anyomore on this page - most likely the ones that are not so successful.

although the number of points and players are increasing, the average is still 1500.
It's hard to believe some people are 1300- in EWN, hahahaha, but apparently it happens! :p

Sorry, but can you explain me why this is laughable?

I'm always around 1600 and never thought a bit. A difference of 500 rating points seems too wide for a game like EWN.

Timeouts can bring ratings down more than playing skill would. So can sockpuppets intentionally losing. And there may be some clueless players who play randomly.

That is one of the secrets of EWN. It looks so
innocent, but has considerable depth.

Years ago (in 2005), some people tried
to write bots for EWN, with normal minimax
tree search and linear evaluation functions.
You should have seen the playing strength (or
better the playing weakness) of such programs.
They would likely have been below 1300, even lower.
