Einstein

I would like the rating calculation in EinStein been altered. Due to the system a win by 1 point in einstein (3-2) is something different as one point win in say Reversi (33-31) or Go. In the latter two you might even play to get there at some point and you simply won the game.

In Einstein I just won a 7-point match with 7-6 while after my one but last move there was a 1 to 2 chance I lost the game, and if not I had 5 to 6 chance to win it, which in fact happened. (The 1 to 12 chance the game was not ended lead to simular further calculations)

It would be more logical that the rating was either treated with w=7/13 vs w=6/13, rather than w=2 and w=0. I mean the ELO formula like on ypercubes player page (click on player next to your name and replave in the url your plid with 1728 if I screw up the next link probably wrong html coded link ) )

NewR1 = R1 + K * {w-[1+10^((R2 - R1)/400)]^(-1)}

This has the backdraw that a 1-point game will get even more importance than now. This might be solved by replacing the 400 in the formula with 100 for 7-point games and with 1000 for 1-point games, for instance. (This means in laymen terms that in a 1-point game a victory is only an upset id the rating difference is 500, in a normal 200 and in a 7-point-game a 7-0 would only be an upset if the difference is more than 50 (but a 7-0 would always be upsetting in my opinion))

If you want to change how much a game counts, it's not the 32 you want changed, it's the K, which is normally 32.

I was wrong indeed, but you too.

I guess you wanted to say I shouldn't take the 400 but the 32, and you are right. Although the 400 is an indicator of what an upset is, that is why I went for the 400, which might do the trick as well.
