It is still more than a year into the future,
but here is a first announcement.
The next "Long Night of Sciences" in Jena (Germany)
will take place on Friday, November 25, 2011.
My group will organize a station on computer game
playing. In this station there will also be a
Havannah tournament:
\* either a mixed one for humans and computers;
or
\* a computer tournament plus exhibition games "humans vs computers"
We will have a few i7-machines in town for programmers
who do not want to bring their hardware to Jena.

Sounds great! At the moment I'm preparing for the Computer Chess Dutch Open that will be held in about 10 days, but after that tournament I'll certainly be working on gambler again.

Ingo: that's what I call long-term planning.
I intend to have Ring-of-Fire take part in this tournament.
Richard: yes, it would be nice to have Gambler active on LG again.
best regards, Johannes.

Right, and my hope is to motivate several people
(bot authors AND human players) to come to Jena.
I am willing to help with travel arrangements,
accomodation and also with "additional cultural program"
for those who want to see more than only the tournament
hall.
Remember: Famous classic town "Weimar" is just 20 km
apart from Jena. Train from Jena to Weimar takes 17 minutes.
And Jena itself is of course famous for its history in
optics (Carl Zeiss, Ernst Abbe, Schott, Jena glass) and
in optical physics.

Ring of Fire is still wanting of some improvements, so the year may well be put to good use then. Will it enter under its own name?
