At the end of last year I played a long game against bbbubbles http://www.littlegolem.net/jsp/info/player.jsp?plid=20727 who tried some interesting tactics to win the game, including changing his profile to match mine. I would appreciate it if they could change that back now please - I asked directly already, hoping a more public forum might convince them to change.
Send these links to Richard (the Web-master). Two people having the same name is neither illegal nor rare. Changing one's profile by copying another person't profile is illegal though. It's called impersonation or identity theft and has severe penalties in most (if not all) countries.
Hovering over the poster of the first message of this thread shows it's the real Jonathon, with plid=2844. The fake Jonathon, aka Bubbles, also playing in hex19.ch.12.1.1 has plid=20727.
Just add "the real Jonathan has player id 2844 not 20727" to your profile, and see if he copies that! If he flips the two numbers around, it will look obviously bogus, as you clearly got there first.
Hohoho, looks like we've got a troll who likes morphing and impersonating others.
MarleysGhost - the real one with ID 14918, not the troll with ID 20727 - you might want to send the link to this forum thread to Richard...
One of the features I was going to add to RoRoRo was a database of all ID<->nick mappings (as sometimes he knows your name but not your ID, and vice versa, and it would be nice for him to know how to go from one to the other at will). This would have the side effect of being able to track, and flag, morphers and impersonators. Fortunately, it's almost all entirely implemented already, as he was doing that for cheaters anyway. (Basically all I have to do is add "morphing" as a new "cheat".)
Your childlike minds cannot comprehend the wisdom of my timeworn ways. When/If you become enlightened through learning The Highest Truth (aka: the unity of all being), you will be no longer ask questions of identity.
Note to archeologists who come across this thread in the future: the posts beginning "Opps, I posted..." and "Your childlike.." were posted when the holder of id=20727 had recently adopted the nick "MarliesGhost".
No, usually one can slalom around it or ignore it altogether. But (pseudo) identity theft concerns individual players and crosses the line, as far as I'm concerned. I'm not sure how it can be avoided or blocked, but Richard and FatPhil are smarter than I am, and I hope they can do something about it.
