Help establishing a defense

I'm new here and I'm trying to improve my game and if anybody could give me a bit of insight on opening moves I would be very appreciative of your comments. I believe my two moves in the W column in game 1518617 were terrible (I'm sure other moves are also but those kind of stick out) but other than that I really like to offer a more competitive game than I have so far.

Please forgive me for first not saying "Hello!" as I am humbled by the play of you Twixt players here. I'm especially in awe of Florian Jamain's "S" looking moves after the game has been established.
