Proposed addition: Connect6 Pro

Considering the reduced variety in Connect6 free-style openings due to the first player advantage, it is proposed to adopt the Pro Rule by referencing the opening forbidden area of Gomoku.

Connect6_Pro_Opening.png

There is a very simple solution to implement this rule in LG without changing the current game flow and move record.
Keep the first move at the center, then integrate the forbidden positions of the third move into the opening library. Specifically, for the second move, the system automatically provides the corresponding forbidden positions. (Refer to the figure above)
The above selection points can ensure that fairness is no less than that under the free-style rules for the opening, with nearly 100 choices for the top three moves that are highly playable, balancing richness and experience accumulation.

Additionally, one strong suggestion for @Richard to consider adjusting. Since the improvement in fairness might slightly increase the rate of drawn games, it is hoped to change the limit of moves for declaring a draw from the current 150 moves to 113 moves (225 pieces) (equivalent to ignoring the outer two lines of the board with extremely low piece efficiency, treating the central 15x15 area already filled). For human players, even 100 moves are already more than sufficient. This is the simplest improvement to prevent overly tedious endgames.

не надо изобретать колесо. Чтобы уравнять шансы, надо изменить правила по типу swap2 gomoku. Ставишь 3 камня в любом месте-соперник выбирает цвет

Many thanks for Richard's support, especially on the current highest level platform of Connect6.

Another thing I've never understood is, for players like Anatolij who have been cheating with AI for a long time, still can't even tell what rules are simple and what are complex after all this time. What's the point of playing like that? Do other players really enjoy playing against such bots?

This is just too obvious, can't you even realize that? But you haven't broken any rules, LG does allow bots to play.

Предрассудки. На сайте Renju Caffe Games это ни у кого не вызывает возражений, тут же вы чем то недовольны. Кстати и здесь gomoku pro играют при помощи ИИ, в чём проблема то?

Those willing to learn from AI have no problem with it, of course, but there is also a significant number of players who don't want to play against bots, they find no enjoyment in facing an opponent that is impossible for a human to beat.
In the early years, Gomoku AIs were not yet completely unbeatable; humans could still put up a fight, so it was customary to allow some bots to participate. The same was true in the early days of Connect6, and most bots' identities were always clearly indicated. But now, playing against an invincible AI makes most top players lose their enthusiasm, and quitting the game is how they voice their dissatisfaction. The most notable example is that even jinjinlkj, the player with the most C6 games, eventually left the game after many matches against AI. Just look at how few of the former high-level players are still around. I believe this is precisely why, in 2026, LG introduced the rule that bots are not allowed to participate in tournaments.

Suggest to have separate 2 leagues, one using the pro-rule, the other keeping the original and simple rule.

Also, @Richard - suggest draw can be implemented at 100 or 120 steps, no need to play until 150 to call a draw.

It is worth mentioning that the compatibility of this Pro rule is also quite impressive. Its full version can be called Pro-swap (or swap-2pos), meaning that the forbidden positions in the third step of the Pro rule is changed to swap positions. The first player can choose to place stones at the X positions, but at the cost of the opponent gaining swap rights. (detailed in the discussion thread)
This perfectly compatible with the original opening under the free rule, while offering the best balance and experience accumulation. If professional level C6 competitions emerge in the future, the Pro-swap rule would be the optimal choice. However, for now, the rule without swap holds the advantage of simplicity, making it easier to implement and promote.

There is also a compatibility solution.
If players can accept the advantages of the original common openings, then the ban points can be applied only to openings where a forced win or a significant advantage can be determined by the human mind, as these openings are rarely played by player anyway.

Therefore, the ban point opening database can be simply modified as follows:

C6_Pro_LG.png

In the image, openings ABCF are the most common, openings DE are played by a small number of expert players, openings GH appear more common among beginner players, and the others are rare and easily winnable openings.

This approach might eliminate the need for two rule versions. Almost all original openings would remain playable, while also enabling more players to participate under a unified version.

Other modification options in the image:
1. Remove the ban points for ADF openings; (no ban points for the most commonly used openings)
2. BC openings will still use ban points; (completely improve balance and variety)

@euhuang, do you have any opinions on this?

Зачем мечтать и тратить время. На этом сайте никто-ничего менять не будет. Я просил привести правила gomoku в соответствии с международными правилами, ответа нет

The Master completely misapplied the Pro rule. The draw only ended after 119 moves, and the forbidden positions are also incorrect.

Cool, it seems the change has already happened. I also thought it would be adding a version.
With the freedom to choose forbidden positions, as long as you are White, you can still play the original openings. After all, even with swap rules, advantageous openings will be swapped to White. However, if Black wants to play some previously balanced third moves, they may need to negotiate with the opponent.

Additionally, if Black finds it too restrictive to opening, there is a weakened version of the Pro rules:

C6_Pro-1_Opening.png

There are fewer balanced openings, but Black's openings also become easier.

As for the draws, it seems there has already been a draw with 119 moves?
However, it can be confirmed that a 100 move limit is completely sufficient.

@Richard

Considering the use of unified rules, it is formally proposed to change the current Pro rule to a Specified Version that automatically marks the forbidden positions, or to a version that players can mark only one forbidden position.

Comparison of Plan A (Specified Opening) versus Plan B (Single Forbidden Position) :
A is more friendly to old players, B is more friendly to new players;
A is more richness, B is more freedom;
A has a better comprehensive effect, B is simpler.

In any case, both are more compatible with the common openings of the original rules, enhancing gameplay without significantly affecting the players. I hope to take this opportunity to make the adjustments all at once, so that even as an experiment, ordinary players can have a better experience.

Furthermore, in common openings like the ones below, humans actually have a wide range of move options to choose from. The inherent advantage of an opening itself may not necessarily offer a greater chance of winning than catching an opponent off guard with an unconventional opening. I hope this provides some reference and inspiration for new attempts.

Yes, the workload was heavy and I missed this only one spot, but it wasn't discovered by you bot players. I informed the administrator early on, and the modification plan has been mentioned several times above. This issue does not affect the framework of the Pro rules themselves.

I have reviewed all recent games by human players, and this issue has not affected their experience either. In openings like 1.J10-2.J9K10, even if ordinary players don't choose a more balanced position, it hasn’t developed into a guaranteed win or loss. The most ridiculous thing about bot players is that they still don’t understand human chess thinking. They only judge based on the numbers the machine gives them, thinking it’s their own wisdom. Perhaps they will never understand that the new rules are meant to improve richness, not to achieve absolute balance, since bots have no concept of fun anyway.

Finally, a reminder to the administrator. Adjustments need to be made before the next tournament starts, as it will still affect the highest-level players. Here, I also apologize to everyone for my oversight.

Вижу движение в правильном направлении-респект. Моё личное мнение-надо ставить 3 камня( 1 чёрный и 2 белых) и дать сопернику выбирать цвет
